Solar Eclipse Viewing Party
Description
LOCATION: Corona Public Library
In celebration of the total solar eclipse viewable from the United States, the Corona Public Library will be hosting a viewing party on Monday, August 21st at 10:00 am with eclipse activities and free solar viewing glasses.
Though we are not on the path of totality, the area that will see a full eclipse of the sun, we can still celebrate! Children, ages 4-12, with their families can enjoy educational activities and watch NASA's livestream of the eclipse at 10:39 am.
The first 200 people to attend will have the opportunity to try out their free solar viewing glasses, made possible by the Library's NASA LIFTS partnership and the NASA Museum Alliance - The only safe way to look at the sun or a partially eclipsed sun is through special purpose solar filters like the glasses the library will provide you. If you are not able to make our event and would like tips for viewing a solar eclipse, check out NASA's Total Solar Eclipse webpage.
This will be the first total eclipse to pass the continental U.S. since February 1979 and we won't have another until April 2024. (And hold tight! We'll have a major party the next time a total solar eclipse passes over California in 2045!)
